If you enjoy a nice drop, then Victoria is the place to be. With 22 wine regions and over 850 wineries, there's a wine for every taste and every occasion. No matter what part of Victoria you are visiting, you can enjoy the magnificent variety of locally produced wines in restaurants, pubs and over 650 cellar doors.

If you have a few days to fill, check out the The Great Grape Road touring route. This route takes you through the beautiful Pyrenees, Grampians and Ballarat wine regions of western Victoria where you can experience a diverse range of cool climate wines grown in these areas. The local vineyards offer cellar door tastings and sales while the spectacular scenery of the area provides ample photo opportunities.

Venturing into north-west Victoria you'll find the wine changes from the cool climate wines of the west to warmer wines, shiraz and chardonnay. The wineries in this region are located predominantly around Mildura and Swan Hill and the area boasts excellent restaurants and wine shows.

Those keen to experience some incredible vino and unspoilt nature all in one cannot go past the Gippsland wine region. A day-trip away from Melbourne, the area is home to Wilsons Promontory with its magnificent coastal features and forests, and the pristine Ninety Mile Beach. Around 50 cellar doors open to visitors tempted to taste the spoils of the Gippsland vineyard area.

Even if you are on a tight schedule, our magnificent wines are still available to you, as there are five wine growing regions all within 90 minutes of the city. If you have some time to explore, it is well worth incorporating some of our country wine regions in your travels for the best wine tasting experience.

If organic is important to you, then meander on out to Captains Creek Organic Wines in Blampied, west of Daylesford. Here you'll discover superb organic Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines, made from handpicked grapes, with a cellar door open to the public on weekends. Also consider a visit to the Murray River town of Robinvale where you'll find Robinvale Wines. They are renowned for their quality organic and bio-dynamic wines - perfect for the health and environmentally conscious consumer.

In the north-east of Victoria, have a drive through the magnificent King Valley wine region which produces a vast selection of wine varieties. Some of these include Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, (both sparkling and red wine), Rosado (rose), Sangiovese, Merlot, Semillon, Durif, Dolcino, Pinot Grigio, Barbera and Sangiovese. There are a pile of wineries to stop off at, providing wine tastings, cellar door sales, meals and accommodation. Make sure you allow a bit of time in your itinerary so you can sample them all.
