Cosy Walnut Cottage is an authentic early-settler farm cottage nestled among 500 organic avocado, fruit and nut trees in the lush foothills of the Strzelecki Ranges.
The delightful, secluded cottage is accessed by its own driveway and has a carport with direct undercover access. It features a full kitchen, pantry, laundry, wood fire with firewood, reverse-cycle air-conditioning and fly screens on all windows and doors. There is a gorgeous north-facing deck surrounded by a rose garden and arbour, with lovely views over the organic property. Guests are free to wander among the spring-fed dams and orchards, and sample produce in season.
The cottage has two bedrooms. There is a double bed in one room and a double bunk with single above in the other.
There are polished boards throughout, so it is pet friendly for well-behaved dogs.
All linen, towels, a hair dryer, iron, soap, shampoo and conditioner, are supplied.
A small cheese platter and continental breakfast is supplied on the first night, together with home-made jams, chutneys and organic produce in season - dried figs, citrus and avocados.
Cosy Walnut Cottage is located only one hour and 40 minutes drive from Melbourne. 8 minutes away is the large rural town of Leongatha with a cinema complex, 9 cafes, pubs, restaurants and all amenities.
The cottage is at the gateway to the glorious Prom Country, the dog-friendly beaches and cafe culture of Inverloch, South Gippsland's wine trail, extensive bike trails and Phillip Island - home to the world-famous Grand Prix and nightly penguin parade. Victoria's finest examples of cool-temperate rainforest can be found at Tarra-Bulga and Mount Worth National parks. There is also historic Port Albert, the heritage early-settler village of Coal Creek and dog-friendly farmers markets each weekend in local towns.
The charming small towns of Loch, Koonwarra, Meeniyan, Fish Creek, and Foster are all close by, with their galleries, cafes, local produce and artisan cheeses producers, cafes and shops. There are magnificent cliff-top drives with views over Wilsons Promontory from Cape Liptrap and the beaches of Walkerville, Waratah Bay and Sandy Point. Take a breathtaking drive up into the rolling hills of the Strzelecki ranges to Mirboo North, the Grand Ridge boutique brewery, Grand Ridge tourist road, and down again to the charming tourist town of Yarragon.
