Introduction:

Sassafras is an attractive village located in the bushy and scenic Dandenong Ranges, situated just south of the popular tourist destination of Olinda.

The town's commercial centre is based around the junction of the Mount Dandenong Tourist Road and the Mountain Highway and features a diverse collection of cafes, antique and craft shops. At the road junction is the Village Green park and adjacent to that is the Sassy Plants nursery. Directly across the road from the nursery is the most recognizable building in Sassafras - the Miss Marples Tea Rooms which are housed in a beautiful two storey English Tudor style house.

Several boutique restaurants and stylish accommodation establishments are tucked away in secluded spots along forest roads around the town.

 
Parks, gardens & trails:

Dandenong Ranges National Park
Covering 3215 hectares and featuring scenic bushwalking tracks, waterfalls, picnic areas and over 130 native bird species
Alfred Nicholas Gardens
Located between Sassafras and Kallista, this garden was part of the historic Burnham Beeches Estate and includes flowering azaleas, native forests, an ornamental lake and waterfalls
