Victoria's largest national park with the state's highest mountains, scenic alpine areas and snowfields, supporting a diverse range of animals and vegetation
Located 29 kilometres from Merrijig, Mount Buller is the most easily accessible of Victoria's major ski resorts for those coming from Melbourne. Best known for alpine skiing, there are 9 kilometres of cross country trails and 25 lifts which give skiers and boarders access to over 80 downhill runs. Resort facilities include bars, restaurants, a supermarket, cinema and an extensive range of accommodation. During summer, the mountain is transformed into a spectacular natural wonderland with magnificent views and activities including bushwalking, abseiling, fishing horse rising and mountain biking.
Situated near Mt Buller, the alpine resort of Mount Stirling is largely undeveloped. It offers first-class cross-country skiing during the winter with around 70 kilometres of maintained trails. Snowboarding and telemark skiing can also be undertaken. Facilities at the resort include a cafe, equipment hire centre, ski school and public shelter. During the summer, the mountain blooms with wildflowers.
