Tawarri at Nelson, Nelson

Tawarri at Nelson is a beautifully renovated limestone studio situated on an acre of quiet and secluded natural bushland. The studio is adjacent to the house with a garden setting and screening that ensures a private experience.

Please note - we are unable to supply linen and towels at present, so guests will need to bring their own (we will provide details once you have booked).

Tawarri is just 100 metres from the beautiful Glenelg River and 300 metres from Simsons Landing boat ramp and river beach. It is a few hundred metres from the Lower Glenelg National Park, and the Great South West Walk passes directly in front of the property. The pristine beaches of Discovery Bay and the Glenelg River mouth are just 3 km away - both are a must-see.

The studio has great character, with a lofty vaulted ceiling and private verandah/courtyard, and is perfect for couples. The open-plan living area includes a sofa bed, a TV, a DVD player and reverse-cycle air-conditioning. The well-equipped kitchen includes hotplates, a microwave, a coffee grinder and espresso maker and a range of electrical appliances - in fact, pretty well everything guests could possibly need. The superior bathroom has a large, extra deep bath from where bushland views can be enjoyed, and the sublime meditation house (a unique round building nestled into the bushland garden 30 metres away) is available for guests to use for yoga, meditation, an extra bedroom, or just a quiet place to relax.

There is a queen-sized bed in the studio, a sofa bed, and two camp beds and linen in the cupboard, which can be set up in the cottage or in the meditation house (the meditation house has no power, so torches or lanterns are a must).

The local wildlife is literally on your doorstep, where kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, possums, and even an occasional emu can be seen from the doorstep. Tawarri is home to a family of sugar gliders, which can often be seen at dusk flying off the roof of the meditation house for a night's foraging.

A well-stocked shop in the town centre is open seven days a week for your convenience, and the local pub does excellent counter meals and has a friendly, inclusive atmosphere.

Tawarri provides peaceful, secluded, comfortable living, which is ideal for bushwalking, bird watching, fishing, canoeing, cycling, or simply retreating from a busy life.

Our no-pet policy respects native wildlife. Please be sure to reach out to us to talk about your needs.
