The Wool House

The Wool House is a tranquil retreat offering the ultimate in relaxation, set on a sprawling sheep farm overlooking the picturesque Gippsland Lakes.

This modern, purpose-built luxury studio cottage features a spacious open plan living area drenched in natural light, with floor to ceiling windows providing scenic views of the surrounding countryside and water. There is a lounge area with comfortable seating, a wall-mounted TV with soundbar, cosy gas log fire and a dedicated work space. The meals area includes a dining table that seats 4 people and a kitchen equipped with an electric cooktop, wall oven, microwave, toaster, coffee machine, kettle, fridge and dishwasher. Condiments, oil, herbs, spices and food wrap are supplied.

At the far end of the living area is a king bed with plush wool bedding. A private bathroom is located behind the bed, complete with floor heating, a wash basin, walk through shower, free-standing bath and toilet. Within the bathroom is a European laundry, equipped with a washing machine, clothes dryer and wash trough.

Surrounding two sides of the cottage is a large elevated deck which is accessible from both the living area and bathroom. The deck has a Weber gas BBQ and plenty of seating, providing a relaxing spot to enjoy magical sunrises, bush and water views.

Beside the cottage is a single carport for your vehicle.

Enjoy fireside seating outside while observing abundant bird life and wildlife on the property. Immerse yourself in stunning water and farm views, cycle around the property, take a bush walk, or head down to the jetty which provides mooring for those with a boat.

The cottage is set on a 100 hectare working sheep farm known as Forge Creek Lamb. This family run business raises grass fed lamb sustainably and ethically, producing premium lamb cuts which can be bought at local farmers markets or ordered for collection from the farm.

The Wool House is located in the rural community of Forge Creek, a 3 hour and 15 minute drive from the centre of Melbourne. It overlooks Picnic Arm which is a stretch of water that comes off Lake Victoria - one of the major lakes in the Gippsland Lakes system which extends from Sale to Lakes Entrance.

Take an 11 minute drive to the lovely waterfront town of Paynesville or 15 minutes to Bairnsdale where you will spoilt with an array of shops, cafes and restaurants. Explore nearby wineries and national parks, with boating, fishing and water activities being very popular in this region.
