Step back in time at this museum which was founded in 1967. It showcases costumes and historical memorabilia worn in the time of Ned Kelly, with the famous blood-stained sash he wore at his death kept on site. Benalla's favourite sons, Dunlop, Waller and Savage, are brought to life thanks to extensive displays of memorabilia and many visitors enjoy the silk dress display, with pieces dating as far back as 1770.

North East Victoria Silo Art Trail

This outdoor gallery consists of large scale murals painted on grain silos by renowned street artists. Depicting people and scenes from local communities, the decorated silos can be found north of Benalla at Devenish, Goorambat, St James and Tungamah. The trail ends at the Winton Wetlands where a mural of firefighters can be found on a large water tank.

Winton Wetlands
Winton Wetlands

These wetlands cover 8,750 hectares, including 4,950 hectares of red gum and box grassy woodlands. They provide a habitat for a diverse range of flora and fauna including hundreds of bird species. There is an extensive network of tracks and visitors can enjoy cycling, bushwalking, picnicking and seasonal boating. The visitor centre has a cafe and playground. The wetlands were originally the site of Lake Mokoan - an artificial recreational lake and water supply which was returned back to its natural wetland state.
