Buda Historic Home & Garden

Built in 1861 and the former residence of a silversmith, the home houses a significant collection of art works. It is set within 2 hectares of enchanting gardens and includes a nursery and gift shop. Many of the plants that were originally planted in the garden in the 1860s remain today.

Castlemaine Botanical Gardens
Castlemaine Botanical Gardens

Established in 1860, the 25 hectare Castlemaine Botanical Gardens are one of Victoria's oldest regional botanic gardens. Reflecting the prosperity of Castlemaine during the gold rush era, the gardens feature an impressive collection of native and exotic trees, an ornamental lake, fountain, band rotunda, manicured lawns, picnic areas and a children's playground.

Castlemaine Diggings National Heritage Park
Castlemaine Diggings National Heritage Park

Encompassing 7,500 hectares of forest, this park is home to authentic relics of the region's gold mining days. Within the box-ironbark forests are the ruins of buildings, abandoned mines and the remains of mining equipment. The park has bushwalking trails, picnic areas, camping spots and mineral springs.

Goldfields Track
Goldfields Track

The Goldfields Track covers a distance of 210 kilometres, taking in historic mining areas and a variety of natural features. It is divided into 4 smaller tracks and follows the top of the Great Dividing Range, connecting the cities of Ballarat and Bendigo. The 44 kilometre Eureka Track starts at Mount Buninyong, passing through Ballarat and onto Creswick. The 60 kilometre Wallaby Track links Creswick with Daylesford. The 48 kilometre Dry Diggings Track extends from Daylesford to Hepburn Springs and Castlemaine. The 58 kilometre Leanganook Track section links Castlemaine with Bendigo.
